That's certainly the most unique take on the Bread classic I've yet heard...did this guy do more stuff along that line? Or was this just a one-off?

Had one other hit I think.  I think he was big in Jamaica.  I do know the Clash liked him a lot.
Weird how the song's lyrics are 'I would give anything I own' instead of 'I would give everything I own' like the title of the song.
And...I don't know if I wrote this somewhere in a previous post, but the song is about David Gates' dad who died.  Pretty touching when you realize that.
