Well I guess that song slowly, slowly has grown to be somewhat enjoyable to me (still wish he'd redo it with old equipment).

But Happy Xmas War is Over and Wonderful Christmas remind me of Luck of the Irish and Give Ireland Back.  I really like John's a lot and am almost indifferent to Paul's.

That live version was cool though.  Thx for posting that.

Man, it makes you think how cool would it be to see John live, see him standing there, he waits for silence with an acoustic in his hand, then you hear, "So this is Christmas..."

Considering how many classics McCartney has written and considering what a sentimental, family-orientated guy he is, you would've thought he would have come up with the Christmas classic.  But I give the nod to Lennon here.  Lennon, with the Phil Spector effects and mandolin and choir and all that really nailed it for my money.  "Wonderful Christmas Time" always sounded like McCartney was stoned on pot and noodling around on a cheesey casio keyboard or something.

But yeah, those Merry Kringle fan-club singles they sent out every Christmas beats both of them.

Mac should have written a Christmas song around 66-67.  Some insiders say they've heard songs from Paul or John played to them that were really great, but then they'd never hear the song again.  I wish Paul and John would have just recorded any song, melody, part, or ideas that popped into their heads from 64-70.
