Even when she talked about getting the news...it's so nonchalant. Anyway, maybe that's her way of dealing with it. She's tough. She's a realist and realized that sometimes life turns a certain way, and one has to except that.
btw there's a Pete Shotton interview on youtube too. It's pretty good. You could easily argue that he was John's best friend esp because Stu was gone. Paul was probably not his best friend but, in a certain sense, belongs in his own category with John. If anyone disagrees with that I couldn't say you're wrong.
